For me, the schedule is WAY too top heavy, with the “classicos” all being played within the first five weeks of the season. While I know there’s the other geographical derbies, the classico matches are always have the highest attendance and usually are regarded as the most important matches of the year. The Boavista / Paços de Ferreira debacle is still yet to be decided. Once it is, one of those two clubs will assume the spot and the other will be banished to the second circle of Portuguese football HELLLLLLLLL.

This list is also obviously only half of the season. For the second half, you can have fun with your own personal homework assignment and add one to the Jornada number, a week to the date, and simply repeat the list from the top with the teams reversed for home field purposes. The first lucky guy or gal to hand in their assignment gets an official Portuguese Liga Offside gold star. Kisses ALL AROUND. Keep it real.

Anybody know how I can catch all this exciting action here in the US? My dorm at school doesn’t allow for anything PPV on television but is there a way to watch online (preferably legally)? All I watch at school is Serie A and we all know that the real football is played in Portugal…

Haha, love the “real” football comment… I have no idea where you’d be able to see it legally online, you may have to be forced into evil deeds to follow without SPT or RTP.

Yeah, I hate how hard it is to watch :( the league in the U.S. Luckily, you have websites like fbtz.com.

Yeah that’s true…the main reason I asked was that Sporting 5-3 Benfica game from a few months ago. That sounded like such an intense game and I don’t want to miss anything like that in the future but oh well. But yeah, Greg is a life saver!

Holy shit guys, thanks for the awesome comments. Andrew, I was driving home and listening to sports talk radio as they were discussing the recent Wimbledon final’s place among the greatest sporting events they’ve watched. It made me think and I’d have to say that the Sporting 5 - 3 Benfica cup match is easily in my top 3 ever seen, especially given the atmosphere of being at what essentially amounts to a Sportinguista bar. Unreal.
