Two Hat Tricks

Porto, Sporting, and Benfica completed a hat trick of wins this past weekend. This means that Porto maintains its four point lead on Sporting and Benfica stays one point behind the second place club.
Alecsandro netted three goals for Sporting in a definitive 4-0 win over Naval. While Porto continues to win, it seems that Sporting is winning in much greater and convincing fashion. This is not to say that a 3-1 win over a clearly tired fourth place Belenenses is not a true testament to Porto’s class, but Sporting have hit a stride where they are mowing down the Liga competition.
Since there are two games yet to play today, I’ll save my witty banter for a full recap tomorrow. If you’re in the northeast US, enjoy this weather. I know I will.
