Howdy, I write for the Inter blog and, as we (Benfica and Inter) have a friendly coming up at the end of the week, I am here trawling for info. Any idea on Benfica’s starting 11 for the game? I am having difficulties with the Benfica web page – Flash applications do not translate and I have no Portuguese – so anything at all would be a real help. Thanks so much.

I have been a Porto fan for 20 years. My family comes from Madeira and are Nacional fans (I know) except for my Grandfather who was a Porto fan and got me into the sport and the team so there you go.

Nelson from NYC – I’ve followed Portuguese football for about twenty years now and up until I married a girl whose mother is Sportinguista I didn’t have a “FAVORITE” club, I just never liked Porto or Benfica. Try telling your future mother in law who, the first time she meets you, looks up from her glasses falling to her nose with her standard issue velha apron on (if you’re Portuguese, you know what this apron looks like, as the older women in your family wear it to sleep) and hands full of bacalhau to ask “You are Sportinguista?” “Yes” was my only option so I’ve been a full fledged Sporting supporter (of course with Chelsea first in my heart) since.

PS – Speaking of calling someone a “frontrunner” didn’t I just see you kissing the Porto blogger’s ass saying you’re so glad he’s writing about “your” team? I’M the front runner? Psssh… I’ll see you on the battlefield, sir.
