Jornada 7 Full-On Recap
By: Greg | October 9th, 2007
PortoFest 2007 marches right along as last night’s matches bring the seventh week to a close in this year’s already decided season. And aaaaaa-way we go…
Sporting 3 - 0 V. Guimarães
Leixões 0 - 1 Naval
Marítimo 0 - 0 V. Setúbal
U. Leiria 1 - 2 Benfica
Académica 0 - 1 Porto
Braga 1 - 0 Nacional
Paços de Ferreira 2 - 1 E.d.Amadora
Boavista 2 - 4 Belenenses
Hero Of The Week — Nuno Gomes, Benfica – Personally, I think this guy is just superbly overrated at this point and has no business being anywhere near the national team. I think whatever caps he earns now are based on past accolades and accomplishments. However, I’m a man who’s capable of putting aside his personal feelings when evaluating talent. In this case, No-No Goals actually put a brace on the board for Benfica and kept them within two sextillion points of league pwners Porto. See how he saved Benfica’s ass below, via YouTube’s amazing embedding tech-mology.
Goat of the Week — Dame, Académica – Nice foul in the box, dick. Porto actually looked like they were willing to hand out a couple points this game but nooooo, you didn’t want to let them, did you? The keeper (Pedro Roma) looked equally inept as he did a River Dance on his line then proceeded to do his best wax-on, wax-off impression while standing in place. Pure, liquid poo.
Clean Sheets of the Week — Todd Helton (Colorado Rockies / Porto), Taborda (Naval), Stojkovic (Sporting), Marcos (Maritimo), Eduardo (V.Setubal), and Dani California (Braga).
I am absolutely convinced that Porto will not win this weekend. Actually, I’m willing to bet $1000 US that they don’t win in the next TWO weeks. Any takers? Plus I’ve changed my mind regarding the table. No table until they lose. And you will only get a table on weeks they drop points. So, instead of having a one-stop-Chop-shop for your weekend Portuguese Football Recaps, Porto are depriving you of a table. Consider this when you lift your arms in utter elation at the next Lucho Libre Gonzalez goal.
