Naval’s performance against Benfica on Sunday showed a lot of character. In fact a draw would have been a fair result. Benfica had 45,700 fans sometimes supporting a side that lacked conviction and they could have been 2 down in the first 10 minutes. A great save early on kept Benfica goaless at half time. Naval’s courageous group of supporters(about 27 I reckon) had moments to celebrate and on occassion out shouted the 45, 700 Benficistas.

Moons ago I was a Benfica socio. 1964. However over the years I have given up on Football until now. Suddenly I am having a Catharsis and Naval seems to me to be the up and coming Star of Portuguese Football and possibly even the European game.
Why I do not know. But I am rarely wrong. Get on a good thing now.

I’m glad I fell asleep soon after Bruno Alves’s free kick because that was probably the highlight of the game. Postiga isn’t impressing me like I hoped he would be either…AND HOW DID EVERYBODY LET PORTO GET IN FIRST AGAIN! I want to give up on Portugal.
