Jornada 28 Pre-Recap: Porto’s Big ‘F You’ To The League
By: Greg | April 28th, 2008
Ever since the heat has been turned up on the Golden Whistle proceedings, Porto have taken the extra warmth of the spotlight and turned it into some impressive play on the pitch. This week, they decided to show the world just how much distance there is between them and the then second place club V.Guimarães.
While one would expect a tightly contested match between the first and second place teams (actually, a twenty point chasm existed between the two clubs at kickoff) in the table, Porto made sure to remind us that they are the proverbial “dog’s bollocks” of the Portuguese League.
Dicky Quaresma and company shamed V.Guimarães to the tune of 5 – 0 and allowed Sporting to sneak up into second place with two matches remaining.
V.Setúbal and E.d.Amadora will play today and therefore tomorrow we’ll have the standard issue full blown recap. Until then, chew on these results:
Braga 2 – 1 P.Ferreira
Benfica 2 – 0 Belenenses
Nacional 0 – 3 Académica
Naval 1 – 0 Boavista
Leiria 1 – 3 Leixões
V.Guimarães 0 – 5 Porto
Sporting 2 – 1 Marítimo
V.Setúbal v. E. Amadora
