By: Greg | November 15th, 2007
I’m in court today for a horseshit summons regarding an illegal u-turn which I shall fight. But since I’m fighting the good fight, this means I can not blog except to tell you that I am in court and can not blog. Thank you. Kisses ALL AROUND!! Until tomorrow… Forsh-uh Por-too-gahl.

Didn’t see the game but I followed some of it on ESPN’s gamecast. Definitely wasn’t expecting 1-0 but it’s keeping us alive at least. I’ll be interested to hear what Greg has to say since I couldn’t see any of it.

I hope he can afford the bail.
Saturday’s performance was horrible. Too many limp passes and poor movement. Simao as #10 just didn’t work. It’s not that he couldn’t work well in that position but the chemistry in the midfield was poor, in general. The 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 just didn’t seem to work. Veloso and Maniche seemed unsure of their roles at times. It’s a good idea to give Almeida more company up front, but there has to be a better way. I’m surprised Scolari didn’t start Moutinho with Veloso. At least they are used to playing together. The few breaks we had were all speed and wing play. All the product of individual efforts.
As a whole, the team looked limp. There was no real cohesion or flow. Not enough movement off the ball or real fighting spirit.
The back four didn’t have to do much but when Armenia did manage to penetrate, we looked off balance. I can’t wait for Carvalho and Andrade to get back. At least one of them. They bring poise and class to our back line. Lets just hope it’s enough to get us at least 1 point against Finland. They won but they failed to impress. Plenty of work to do if we want to make a serious run at the Euro title.
Kudos to C. Ronaldo, 50 caps, something like 29 goals and the captain’s armband again. This kid is a hardcore veteran at 22. Impressive.

Don’t worry, I’m sure he snuck a file into his cell and he’ll be out in no time. Prolly will have to lay low for awhile though…
I like the idea of Veloso and Moutinho playing together for just the reason you mentioned, Luis. I’d like to think Deco’s absence may have been the reason for the poor midfield display, but I don’t know how much of a difference he could have made. This is getting frustrating because it seems like we have a lot of really solid players but the chemistry (or something) is just lacking a lot. They need to get it sorted out.

http://www.record.pt/noticia.asp?id=765425&idCanal=292 Rumours of R Carvalho to Inter.
Other than Deco we don’t really have an option for the attack mid spot. Consequently everything flows trough the wings. There was an empty spot there, everytime there was a rebound. Maniche and cia tried but they only managed to kick the ball anywhere except goal… Simao as #10 left midfield too empty. I’d like to see M Fernandes having more time.

I agree with most of what you guys are saying about the. I just wonder if it isn’t also partly our curse. You know, always playing down to the level of our opponents?
Any thoughts?Posted from
