6,000 is the Loneliest Number
By: Greg | March 21st, 2007Despite a recent advertising blitz and call for “Everyone to the Stadium!” SC Braga could only muster 6,000 fans to the team’s most recent league tie.
A 1/5 full Estadio Municipal de Braga witnessed SC Braga defeat Naval Primero de Maio 2-1. The empty stadium at the link above should give a feel for what it was like to be there live. Goals from Manuel Joao Pinto (27′) and a late penalty from Ze Carlos (86′) moved fourth place Braga closer to a repeat appearance in next year’s UEFA Cup.
Braga will be fresh in the minds of Spurs fans who recently saw their team go through to the next round of the UEFA Cup by defeating the Portuguese side. This leaves Benfica as the only Portuguese team remaining in the competition.
Braga need not worry about playing in front of crowds fit for a senior high school musical in the coming month, they’ll be squaring off against third place Sporting at home and second place Benfica away in the following week.

Gregory, I can tell from your writing style that you are from Iceland. I picture you to be like Peter Jackson, a big hairy man who loves Lord of the Rings. If so, I would really appreciate it if you were to call me. Maybe we can hang out in my bathtub and erect boats out of legos mindstorm sets and run them into each others’ privates. I’ll bring the Mr. Bubbles, you bring the privates.
