Lieutenant Columbo reports on the Taça de Portugal

Just one more thing… Sporting won the Taça de Portugal over Belenenses 1-0 back on May 27th. Liedson converted a cross in the 88th minute which you can see in the video below. The video doesn’t do the game justice, as it was far from the 1-0 Chelsea v Man U sleepwalk FA Cup final. Sporting have had their mettle tested and were weather beaten into looking like quite the force to be reckoned with next year. With Nani gone, they’re going to miss a frenetic spark plug but it shouldn’t be an insurmountable loss and I see them as a front runner for next year’s league. Belenenses fought well and based on their high finish this year look to be a team on the upswing. Enjoy the weekend, and the Sporting goal with celebration below…
